Youth Employment Initiative in Qatar, Al Amal Bil Amaal

Silatech launched the Youth Employment Initiative in Qatar, Al Amal Bil Amaal program to facilitate access to the job market for young men and women in Qatar. This initiative is based on tenets of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to balance economic and social growth for all residents of Qatar by investing in them and ensuring the provision of care, attention, and justice for all residents. The initiative aims to develop skills and provide economic empowerment opportunities for residents of Qatar, mainly those suffering from unemployment due to COVID-19, and the lack of skills necessary to enter the Qatari job market.

BEDAYA CENTER

Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development, a joint initiative between Silatech and Qatar Development Bank, provides youth with access to a wide range of services including career guidance, self-assessment, employability skills development in employability and entrepreneurship, mentoring opportunities, volunteering, practical training, networking activities, and lecturers programmes.

Silatech’s Employment and Enterprise Development programmes work closely with the Bedaya team to provide services to youth in Qatar through the Bedaya Center.

QATAR TA3MAL YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY PORTAL

Qatar Ta3mal” is an online employability portal that supports youth and job seekers in Qatar through their transition into the world of work. An initiative co-founded by Silatech and Microsoft, Ta3mal provides a wide array of resources and services ranging from career guidance tools like “Tamheed”, e-learning courses, employability and entrepreneurship training courses, in addition to entry-level job opportunities available in the country.

Tamheed is Silatech’s career guidance program, it includes online psychometric and language assessments, a career advising framework, and training and capacity building for career advisors. Youth workers can be trained to become Tamheed advisors in less than a week, creating a large pool of certified advisors offering personalized advice based on scientific reports.

Partnerships with universities and colleges have given access to Tamheed for over 80 percent of Qatari students enrolled in higher education in Qatar.

TAMM VOLUNTEER NETWORK

Tamm,” meaning “consider it done” in Qatari Arabic, is an initiative to promote youth volunteerism and civic engagement by effectively connecting volunteers and the organizations that need them through an online platform. Tamm was co-founded in early 2015 by Silatech, the Social Development Center, Reach Out to Asia and the Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities.

CHALLENGE 22

Challenge 22 is an innovation award launched in 2015 by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, along with Silatech and Qatar National Research Fund. Challenge 22 unites, inspires and challenges entrepreneurs, inventors and scientists from across the Middle East and North Africa, providing innovative thinkers with the opportunity to have their ideas showcased in front of an audience of billions in 2022 and beyond.

GEM REPORT

In partnership with Qatar University’s Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, Silatech conducted a nationally representative Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) survey for the first time in Qatar on entrepreneurial attitudes, aspirations, and activities of Qataris and non-Qatari residents.
